The Undiscovered Funds
The project began back in Summer '09 not only as something the community could get involved in, but maybe raising some much needed funds for the Temple Nursery & Playgroup and Temple Village Hall Association. As the project advanced and the interest in films and filmmaking grew, we extended this fund raising out to include a new Film Club where the community could gather to watch a variety of quality films throughout the year. As we reached the end of the project, with the community response to both being in the film and attending the premiere, we thought what next? The only answer being - "Let's Make More Films"!
Temple Community Cinema was initially setup in June 2010 after the purchase of a screen. The cinema was renamed Moorflix Community Cinema in the summer of 2011 as other village halls were used to show films.
There are a number of filmmaking projects that have been suggested, one of which is already in progress. Local children have shown much interest in making new films and we would like to organise a series of animation workshops where they can devise their movie ideas, create the artwork, puppets, backdrops etc, and let their ideas come alive. Finally we offered our help to Moorfoot Primary School to enable them to make their own films too, whether this is scripts, film planning and making and we hope to do this in the coming year. Our aim is to apply for grants to purchase film making equipment to allow anyone in the community to make films.
We have therefore setup Moorfoot Community Films as a sub-group of Moorflix Community Cinema to encourage and support future filmmaking projects in the area.
But this project was about raising funds for the following local organisations:
